Water is fascinating, and our Education Centres will help bring learning to life and help you discover more. Come to one of our four Education Centres for a perfect day out - totally FREE of charge! Each centre runs a range of fun, practical activities and programmes so that children can experience the amazing world of water at firsthand.
All lessons are led by specialist seconded teaching staff, in fully-equipped classrooms, and all are linked to the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2 including the transitional years of Yr 2 and Yr 7. What's more, we develop new lessons every year - so there's always something different to learn. Plus, every pupil that visits one of our centres also receives a FREE drinking water bottle as part of our commitment to encouraging drinking water every day to improve concentration.
Two of our education centres have achieved Eco-Centre Status.Qualified Eco-Schools Assessors from Keep Wales Tidy have assessed and approved Welsh Water's
Environmental Education Centres at Cilfynydd near Pontypridd and Cog Moors near Cardiff as achieving Eco-Centre Status and both have been awarded the coveted Green Flag. The Centres, are required to achieve all the essential elements of the Eco-Centre programme and promote environmental awareness to its visitors and encourage them to take part in action to help reduce our environmental footprint.


There are many great reasons to come to Alwen's Education Centre, but the most obvious two are Alwen's 27-metre high dam and 5km long reservoir! Children will get the chance to see them both and then discover how they were built thanks to the centre's unique historical exhibition. Internationally recognised for its diverse animal and plant life, the Elan Valley is a wonderful place to bring pupils who love wildlife.
